Don't fall for the Panda Mascot photo trap in Chengdu
While exploring busy areas like Chunxi Road or Kuanzhai Alley, you’ll often see people dressed in cute panda costumes or traditional opera outfits offering to take photos with you. They might act very friendly and pull you into a pose, but be warned: these photos are not free. Once the photo is taken, they will demand a fee (often 20-50 RMB per person). To avoid an awkward confrontation, it’s best to politely wave them off or say "No, thank you" before they get close. If you want a real panda experience, save your money for the official Research Base instead!

Just spent the morning at the Chengdu Panda Base. The pandas are absolutely adorable! Watched them during feeding time and got some amazing photos. Highly recommend going early to avoid crowds.
Best Street Food in Chengdu
Tried the mapo tofu at a local restaurant near Jinli Street. Absolutely spicy and delicious! The flavor is incredible. Definitely coming back for more.
